Movie Review: “Children of Men”
Children of Men is a movie about our world in the year 2027. It has been 18 years since the last baby was born on planet earth. The reasons for infertility are unknown. But in the midsts of chaos, hope comes in the representation of a pregnancy.
A woman is pregnant, and it is Theo’s job (played by Clive Owen) to get her to safety. This sience fiction movie takes place in the United Kingdom. A place torn apart by terrorism and illegal immigration which has caused for refugee camps to pop up everywhere.
My take on the movie; I cant help but think of the holocaust and what the jews must have gone through while watching the refugee camp scenes. The movie starts off with a very neat attention getter in the shape of a terrorist attack. The rest of the film however, I find a bit boring, and the ending really got me angry. I wont ruin it for you.
Overall, I’ll give it 2 stars. Which means, watch it if you want, but you wont miss out on much if you dont.

Well, maybe quite unsurprisingly, I disagree, unless you mean you give it 2 stars out of 2 stars.
The movie touches on a lot of social and political issues, many that are current events with the dialogue and the circumstances of the individuals and the world that they live in.
In addition to that, the cinematography was amazing. The movie has very few cut scenes compared most movies that are released. Many or most of the shots in the movie are done in a documentary style using very extended single shot action sequences. The one where the group is attacked on the road is amazing when you realize that not once did the camera cut to another angle but the same camera is used to film the complete scene. It really helps to immerse you in the film.
Anyway, for some more basic info about the film for readers to get a better understanding I would recommend checking out the wiki page here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children_of_Men
I found this quote an interesting one by the director (also found on wiki page above)
“We wanted the end to be a glimpse of a possibility of hope, for the audience to invest their own sense of hope into that ending. So if you’re a hopeful person you’ll see a lot of hope, and if you’re a bleak person you’ll see a complete hopelessness at the end.”

[...] an entertaining movie, but it’s a fast food movie. With that, I leave you with a “See it if you want, but you wont miss much if you don’t!” (except for a lot of dismembered body parts). The ultimate guy [...]
